Brenda Lee (Cahal) Hemmer
June 17, 1940 – April 15, 2025
Brenda Lee Hemmer, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and faithful servant of Christ, passed peacefully on April 15, 2025, at the age of 84. She was preceded in death by her father, Marvin Cahal; her mother, Shirley Cahal-Embry; her stepfather, James Embry; and her brother, James (Jim) Embry.
Born on June 17, 1940, in Louisville, Kentucky, Brenda grew up with a deep sense of faith, family, and service. She attended Choctawhatchee High School and graduated from Tokyo American High School in Japan. She always loved that the CHS class of 1958 included her in all reunions. She furthered her education at Western Kentucky State College and the 20th Century Business College. Brenda dedicated many years of her professional life to Magnolia Medical Clinic and PTRS, where her kindness, attention to detail, and compassion made a lasting impact.
Brenda married the love of her life, Allen Hemmer, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Shalimar September 18, 1965. Their marriage was a testament to faith, love, and commitment, and they have attended Good Shepherd Lutheran Church together ever since.
She is survived by her brother, Michael Embry. She was the proud and devoted mother of Lisa Brown (William), Jennifer High (Gordon), and Laura Kilgore. Brenda’s legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren—Angelia, Christina (Robert), Jonathan (Samantha), Adrian (Siara), Brandon (Kaylee), Cadence, and Calie—and great-grandchildren—Hailey, Mia, Oakley, Otto, Ocean, Remington, Brynleigh, and Sawyer and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Brenda lived a life of joyful service. She was active in her church community, including the LWML and Quilters, and was a member of the Okaloosa County Pacesetters. After retirement, she and Allen spent summers working at National Parks around the country, combining their love of travel and nature with their passion for service.
She was a true Proverbs 31 woman, a gracious and wise soul who always put God and family first. Brenda taught her family not only the importance of proper grammar, but also how to live with faith, integrity, and love. Her life was a beautiful reflection of what it means to serve others with humility and grace.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1 Meigs Drive, Shalimar, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will immediately follow at Beal Memorial Cemetery with a reception following at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
Brenda will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but her legacy of faith, love, and devotion lives on in the hearts of her family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her name to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church or Alzheimer's Association.
