Volunteer Recruitment

Volunteer Recruitment
Consistent, dependable and reliable are the main qualifiers to a church volunteer.

You are encouraged to get evolved in the life of the congregation so that we may know you and be known by you. If you would like to volunteer in one of these roles that there is a schedule, let me know. Contact Curtis.

Schedules are created for church year quarters. and are usually generated one month prior to the end of the quarter (Dec-Feb, Mar-May, Jun-Aug, Sep-Nov). I will keep your name on file for the next schedule.

Acolyte Schedule

Range
February
-
May

The acolyte carries out several important responsibilities before and during the worship service.

Acolytes bring three gifts into worship:
• Celebration, like lighting candles on a birthday cake to mark joy.
• Reverence, like candles lit at memorials to show honor.
• Anticipation, like candlelight at a special dinner that creates expectation.

In worship, the lighting of candles symbolizes Christ’s presence among His people (John 8:12). We remember, however, that this presence is symbolic, for Christ is with us wherever we go (Zephaniah 3:17; Matthew 28:20). True worship is not confined to Sunday mornings in a church building but is expressed through lives lived in honor of God.

Hymns Selection Schedule

Range
February
-
May

Worship is centered on Christ. The selection of hymns and songs for our worship services is intended to help the congregation give thanks to God, rejoice in and respond to what He has done, and edify the Church by giving voice to our theology. In this way, music serves to support and amplify the proclaimed Word.

The standard lectionary can be found in The Lutheran Study Bible (page xlvii), the Lutheran Service Book (page xiv), or in the table provided here. The pastor has final authority in selecting the readings for worship and may choose to depart from the standard lectionary.

Let our voices join with the song of every saint from every age, proclaiming, “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain!”

Lawn Team Schedule

Range
February

May

The Lawn Team does more than mow grass or trim hedges, it serves as a ministry. By caring for our campus, you help create a space that reflects God’s excellence and invites others to encounter Him. Long before a word is spoken in worship, the appearance of our grounds communicates a silent message: “You are welcome here.”

For many who are seeking a church home, that first impression can open the door to hearing the Good News. By removing distractions and obstacles, you help prepare hearts to be drawn to Christ. In this way, your service prepares the soil in which the proclamation of the Gospel can take root.

Lectionary

Range
February
-
May

Lectionary tables include a set of Bible Readings appointed for Sundays, festivals, and occasions in the church year. The church year begins at the end of November with the start of the season of Advent (coming). Series A has Gospel readings from Matthew, Series B Mark readings, and Series C Luke readings of the 3 year Lectionary.

General Lectionary tables are found in the
Lutheran Service Book (LSB pp xiv-xxiii) and The Lutheran Study Bible (TLSB pp xlviii) from which this chart was made.

Because the date of Easter changes from year to year, its place on the calendar during a particular year determines whether there will be a greater or lesser number of Sundays during the season of Epiphany and the season after Pentecost. Each set of appointed readings is assigned a “proper” number in Pentecost. When Easter is later in the year, the proper numbers immediately following the week after Pentecost Sunday (Trinity Sunday) are skipped.

Media Team Schedule

Range
February
-
May

The Media Team serves as sound board operators, camera operators, projector operators, and livestream operators for the worship services. This work is vital, as it enhances the worship experience by helping the congregation hear clearly, follow along with the service, and enabling those online to participate through the livestream.

The praise band rehearses on Saturdays at 8:00 a.m. Attendance at these rehearsals is strongly encouraged for Media Team members, as it benefits both the team and the band by ensuring smooth coordination during worship.

Readers Schedule

Range
February
-
May

The readings for each Sunday normally come from the lectionary, a collection of Old Testament, Epistle, and Gospel lessons that together present a unified message. The lectionary follows a three-year cycle organized around the Church Year, highlighting Christ’s birth at Christmas, His resurrection at Easter, and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. The practice of reading from both the Old and New Testaments in worship dates back as early as A.D. 150.

Note: The pastor has final authority in selecting the readings for worship and may choose to depart from the standard lectionary. Therefore, this schedule reflects what is currently known. The standard lectionary can be found in The Lutheran Study Bible (page xlvii), the Lutheran Service Book (page xiv) or in the table found here.

Ushers Schedule

Range
February
-
May

Ushers play an important role in helping worship services run smoothly while fostering an atmosphere of reverence and welcome. At the heart of this ministry is a servant’s spirit, as ushers carry out their work for the Lord (Colossians 3:24).

Through practical acts of care, ushers help worshipers feel at home in the church. Their responsibilities include greeting and guiding those who arrive for worship, assisting the called ministers with the flow of the service, receiving the offering, and helping to maintain a safe and orderly environment.

Detailed responsibilities and guidelines can be found in the Usher Duties Handbook.
